      Fw Engineer Interview

      12 Jun 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Longueuil, QC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at aviya (Longueuil, QC)

      Interview

The interview experience was disappointing. The compensation discussed was significantly below current market rates for a candidate with my level of experience and the responsibilities described for the role. I also felt that my previous accomplishments and professional track record were not given appropriate consideration during the compensation discussion. A significant emphasis was placed on the opportunity to acquire specialized industry knowledge after joining the company, which appeared to be used to justify compensation that was well below my expectations. During the interview, I was told that my resume had been reviewed in advance. However, several questions focused on technologies and domains that were not listed on my resume. When I indicated that these areas were outside my background, I felt the response was dismissive rather than constructive. While challenging questions are a normal part of the interview process, the overall tone left me with the impression that the discussion was more focused on exposing gaps than understanding my actual experience and qualifications. The role may be a good opportunity for someone early in their career who is primarily looking to gain industry-specific experience. However, experienced candidates should discuss compensation expectations early in the process to ensure alignment, as I found the compensation range to be substantially below both my expectations and what I have observed elsewhere in the market for positions with similar responsibilities. As a result, I chose to withdraw from the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Be prepared to answer a wide range of technical questions, including topics that may not be directly related to your resume, previous experience, or the requirements listed for the role. The interview focused as much on identifying knowledge gaps as it did on discussing relevant experience and past accomplishments.
