This was the most unprofessional interview I have ever had. Most companies contact you for a screening call where they discuss the job, salary, benefits, and your background to see if the job is a good fit. Then they will schedule a video interview to discuss your work more in-depth. That normal process never happened with this company. I was messaged through Indeed without any friendly context to have a call. At first, they were trying to schedule a call for Memorial Day which I agreed but it felt strange since it's a US holiday. Then on Sunday they finally realized it was a holiday and asked if I could do a call on Tuesday which I agreed to. The first red flag was the interviewer calling me half an hour early through WhatsApp and asking me to jump on a google meet. I reminded her of the agreed-upon time and jumped on the call then. I assumed as this was my first time talking to them that the interview would be a typical screening call. Instead, they demanded I turn my camera on which I was not comfortable with for my first conversation with them. From the beginning, it wasn't normal protocol. Without giving me any context into who they were or what they were looking for I was asked to share my screen and talk about one of my projects. As I did they again demanded I turn my camera on. I reiterated I wasn't comfortable with that for my initial call which I assumed would be a screening. As I continued to talk the interviewer then demanded I show them my project live on a website or app. I explained that since the project was a B2B product businesses had to pay for I could only show her my mockups and prototypes. She was very rude to me and quickly hung up on me. The whole process was completely unprofessional to the point where I questioned the legitimacy of the company. If this is how they treat people and potential candidates avoid them at all costs.
