The first interview was with a lead teacher and principal. I was greeted with a warm welcome and introduced to some of the staff. They explained a bit about the school.
I was hesitant when they mentioned that over 90 percent of the school's students are English Language learners. However, once they explained all the systems and personnel in place to bridge the language barriers. They have community leaders as parent liaisons. They translate documents to be sent home and call parents for teachers.
The building is a bit shabby, but the money goes right back into the school for materials, technology and curriculum. I have now worked here for several years. Like any work place there are areas of improvement. Yet, the work environment at Zenith Academy is warm. Teachers and administration collaborate to consistently improve the school. It is apparent that staff truly care about eachother and the success of their students.
