The first interview was a group interview outside the store on a bench in the mall. Many girls were late so we were told to explore the store while we waited; not sure why they would want us to do that because the store was an absolute mess with clothes on the floor, falling off the hangers, turned inside out, covered in make-up, etc. and the employees looked miserable. I just couldn't understand, these interviews were taking place on weekdays (ie. Tuesday at 2pm) when there were no crowds or any excuse to be so disastrous. Also, everyone knows Zara's customer service is not good, but you'd think if employees weren't helping customers they'd be cleaning the store..That just didn't really make me excited to work there! Very basic questions: "What do you know about Zara?" (this is where one girl recited a paragraph she memorized from Wikipedia, bravo) "Who do you think our competitors are?" (H&M) "Describe your work ethic in one word". Group interviews are tricky if you are older and not as eager/energetic as teenagers to get a part-time sales associate job. I had trouble standing out but somehow I received a second interview, probably based entirely on my resume. The second interview was also on the mall bench (which was very loud!) and was a 1:1 interview with the department manager. These questions were more skills-based, job-based and experienced-based.
