I live in Ireland and the recruiter contacted me online about the role and sent me a salary range in US$. After the second Zoom interview where we established that I am a good fit for the role, the recruiter gave me another salary range for the position in Ireland, this time in Euros, which was about 40% lower than the initial one in US$. It was also much lower than my current salary. Apparently, the reason for a much lower salary is a difference in the living costs between US and Ireland. I don't think she was actually aware of the cost of living in Ireland. Since the recruiter knew from the start I was based in Ireland, I felt like I was being misled. I said I wasn't interested in continuing the process knowing the new salary on offer and the recruiter said "OK" and ended the call. Not really the experience you would expect when reading the materials on Zapier's website, especially about transparency. A bit disappointing experience, but I'm satisfied I didn't waste more time interviewing with them, like some other people.
