You go through two different interview processes where they ask about previous experience and a bunch of scenario questions. The second one involves a one hour observation. I was offered a position the same day as the second interview.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Youth Villages (Memphis, TN) in Aug 2021
Interview
They ask apt questions about safety sense, communication skills and ability to adapt to situations( because this job requires a person to be adaptive and have survival instincts). Usually the interviewer will throw a very specific question which is almost entirely up to the person being interviewed to answer like a person who’s been in a similar position. Example, if there is a change of plans do to increment weather or other external factor what is the best response to assuage the youth from getting upset. This non-profit really cares about the youth and adult relationships in making change through efficiency in building trust. So trust you will be working under leadership that cares.

Question 1
How would I assuage the youth if it rained on an outing and we had to go back to the site.
The interview for this position was straight forward. I met with the cottage supervisor as well as program manager to answer questions about my education and experience. There is only one round of interviews for this role.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Youth Villages

The interviews aren’t very hard. They are going to ask about previous experience with children and the why behind working at youth villages. (Why do you want to work with children with mental illness and behavioral issues?)
