I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at YipitData (New York, NY) in Feb 2022
Interview
There are 2 technical assessments and 5 interviews in total. The technicals take place before the interviews. In between the first and second technical, the company provides a pre-recorded info session to educate you on the role. After the second technical, you may iterate on the technical assignment with an employee who asks clarifying questions or challenges assumptions you made. If you pass both technicals, you interview with your recruiter and then have ~3 hours of interviews with future team members/ colleagues. The timeline for submitting my cover letter to signing my offer letter was roughly 8 weeks.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
First Technical - required basic familiarity with Excel (summing columns, ensuring data is complete, etc.)
Second Technical - estimating missing data in a dataset about Groupon. It is substantially longer than the first, and I probably put in ~12-15 hours.
Interviews - very standard behavioral questions with an opportunity to ask questions as well.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at YipitData (New York, NY) in Oct 2021
Interview
1. Casual conversation with recruiting lead
2. Short take home assignment (~1 hour and kind of fun!)
3. Watch a 1 hour video on the position. Interesting, thorough, and can watch at 1.5x speed for most of it, rewinding and playing normal speed when necessary.
4. Longer take home assignment and related follow ups. Pretty tough, but they made it clear what to expect so I wasn’t caught off guard. Seems like a good indicator of what the role will be like and discourages people from applying if they’re not actually that interested.
5. Screening with HR
6. Super day with data specialist team
7. Interview with product development VP
Very transparent the whole way through about the interview process, the role, the salary/ benefits expectations, etc. While this is NOT an easy or uninvolved interview process, you’re constantly kept in the loop and never caught off guard. Response time between stages was very quick. I felt desired and valued every step of the way and was never left wondering when/if I’m going to hear back like I have at other roles.
