I had a disappointing experience with Yarra Valley Water. Despite being transparent about my current location and confirming that I am ready to relocate to Melbourne immediately upon securing a role, I was dismissed after just a basic screening call. The caller spent time highlighting how great the company is — flexible work-from-home options, people-first values, etc. — but ultimately, I wasn’t even offered an interview. This felt disingenuous. A truly people-centric company would at least offer a fair chance to candidates who show strong interest and flexibility. It’s clear now that their actions don’t align with the values they promote. In hindsight, I’m glad I won’t be working for an organisation that says one thing but does another.
