      Motion Designer Interview

      1 Feb 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at X (New York, NY) in Dec 2023

      Interview

I went through 3 rounds of interviews. First with a recruiter who reached out to me. Then with the CD I'd be working under and then I had 4 hours of interviews with 4 random people that I would also be reporting to (I think?) No one was really clear on what my job would actually be at the company. It felt strange, I got 4 different answers from 4 different people. The first two interviews were fairly standard and honestly everyone I spoke to was super nice. I get the feeling that the only person who knew what the interview was for was the CD, though. For my 4 hour interview I had to first present 3 pieces from my existing portfolio. The recruiter who originally contacted me said to "pick 3 pieces that I thought were cool" so naturally I did not present the more corporate pieces in my portfolio. When I started presenting I quickly realized I needed to pivot because these 4 random employees were not creatives and wanted to see my more corporate works. I would have appreciated a little more organization on their end. In my 1x1s with each of these employees, one started making negative comments about my last workplace, another started complaining about one of the other people I was interviewing with. It got really weird and I feel like they're dealing with a lot of strange dynamics internally. At the end of the day I did not get the job, which is fine. I do think I dodged a bullet.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I can not remember a lot of their questions because I was interviewed for 4 hours straight. I do feel like a lot of the questions were basic interview questions.
