I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Wondercide (Austin, TX) in Mar 2025
Interview
To start, I need to mention that I'm overqualified for this role and have been in the social media space for over 15 years and have worked on national and global brands for years and years now. The interview process is long and drawn out and they made it clear that they do not care that it's that way. I had 2 initial phone interviews that were about a week apart and was then flown in to interview with all of their leadership team in back to back meetings, 2 weeks after that. All of the interviews felt like they went great with some thoughtful questions asked by the various team members. I made sure to elaborate on my questions, which caused us to go over the 1 hour per person time frame with every single person. I met with the CEO at the very end and he was seemingly checked out already. He was checking his phone and yawning. When I asked about next steps, he said that they'd be flying in people for the next couple of weeks and then have another round of interviews for the finalists to chat with the remaining team members. I asked if they normally had a 3 month hiring process and he said it'd take as long as it needs to take. I sent follow up thank you emails to everyone and was then told they were passing on me, before meeting with anyone. The only piece of feedback I got was that I didn't provide details on all of my processes, which made them believe I had a large team supporting me at previous work places, which would be a big change for the small team they had to offer. THATS IT. I have had small and large teams that I've worked above and was well aware that they are a small team and I'd need to be hands on. I made it a point to mention how I enjoyed remaining hands on and that it was a part of the job I liked doing the most. This either fell on deaf ears or was passed on for more petty reasons, as that reason alone still doesnt make it clear how I wouldnt be able to do the job well. Beyond that, it's been about a month since this and I was asked to pay for airfare, transportation and hotel, so they could expense it. I have yet to receive a payment from them. This may not seem like a lot to some, but asking an unemployed person to spend $1K and then taking over a month to pay them back is a clear sign of their lack of interest for individuals.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you go about in setting up a paid social campaign?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wondercide in Oct 2024
Interview
Interviewed over the phone with HR and then was contacted a week later to schedule an in person interview with the creative director. Went in for that interview and was drilled for the entire hour, leaving no room for me to ask ANY questions at the end. Was then told that hundreds applied and I was part of 20 people he was interviewing in person. 20?! What a massive waste of time. As soon as I heard that, I was out. If an employer cannot narrow a list of in person interviews below 20, big red flag. How do you even have time for that many interviews?
It's been about three weeks and haven't heard anything back. No surprise there. Wouldn't take the job if I were even offered. Ineffective hiring practices are a no for me.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Wondercide (Austin, TX)
Interview
I interviewed with Wondercide a little while back, but now feel comfortable posting my experience.
My interview process was 3 weeks and I had to interview with 5 different people. The first and second interview were totally normal - basic questions, diving into my experience, comparing to the role. However, everything after the 2nd interview felt like an utter waste of time. There were 3 phone calls and 3 more rounds of interviews, all of which gave the impression of the hiring manager hemming and hawing trying to postpone making a decision, while still keeping my hopes up. At one point, I was asked if I would be open to taking a lower salary than what had been listed on the job description.
After all of the back and forth and making me wait around, I did not get an offer and the job was reposted on all platforms.
The interview process started fine but by the end felt dehumanizing.
