The HR recruiter with regards to my scheduling interview/post interview follow-up was really kind, prompt, and professional. (Thanks Greg!) I can now see why the reviews on WK’s interview process are so polarizing though, because my interview experience was kind of unprofessional. One of my interviewers kept disconnecting due to technical issues (things happen) and wasn’t present for most of the interview. The other only asked me one question about myself listed below. I guess my answer was not ideal (or they weren’t really looking for candidates) because the rest of my interview was basically me talking to myself, trying to reiterate my interest in the position and how my goals/experiences aligned with the role. (I expressed an interest in writing and editing even “the role was more publishing focused”.) I have no issue with not being the right fit for the role, especially if the role was already filled which was my impression based on the way I was treated. I just wish I was told this up front instead of wasting time preparing for the interview/talking to myself. Being encouraged to apply to other roles and that told the role is only suitable for those already in the industry in the middle of the interview was kind of rude in my opinion. Why invite me to talk about myself as a candidate if you’re not interested in me? (As many others mentioned in their reviews.) I tried to stay upbeat and professional in the midst of all this because I couldn’t tell if this was some weird personality test or something, but I was really surprised by the experience.
