I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Winkreative (London, England)
Interview
Got the impression that the company is very set in its ways and perhaps hindering its potential for employee retention and moving with the times. Old fashioned views on work processes and not valuing employee contributions. Not my kind of place from a culture standpoint.
I applied online. The process took 6+ months. I interviewed at Winkreative (London, England) in Oct 2015
Interview
I applied via the website. This process takes years emailing back and forth. You will maybe get a reply, but be prepared to wait weeks for this. There is No HR structure at all. After pushing for an interview I was interviewed by both the operations manager (that also does HR) and the MD.
Interview was not hard at all. Nice chat many personal questions, not so much on brand knowledge. I prefer to keep work and private life separated, personally. A couple of hours later I received a phone call If I could have lunch with my potential boss, the next day at monocle cafe. After the 20 min lunch(nice guy, interesting conversation) I received an email with the offer.
It was a freelance offer, the pay was so incredibly low that you would not be able to live of that amount. The office closes in Dec for 2 weeks and they don't pay these 2 weeks. They pay per day as a freelancer and not for the hours worked. The wage is just a both minimum in the UK and maybe even below the minimum if you divide the hours worked by the pay per day. I have a masters degree so I guess that it is safe to say it is more expensive to hire me than uneducated employees.
This is the type of firm that thinks about themselves first, then for a whole period of time there is nothing and then at the end they think of their employees.
They make great work and they are known for that as well, which also has to be said, you will probably learn a lot while there. But the conditions are UN-HUMAN.
I asked them to increase the wage, as I just could not figure out how to live from this wage.
