A really easy and efficient process that took about two weeks. The first round was a call with an analyst that consisted of all behavioral and fit-based questions but did not face any technical questions.
The second round was a superday format. I spoke with two MDs, a Director, and two VPs. There were three behavioral interviews which were very straightforward and the typical fit questions you'd expect. The other two interviews consisted of technical questions. One was a very fundamental and basic paper LBO. While the other was how you would react to an M&A deal (was a mix between behavioral and technical).
Overall, the process was fun and I learned a lot about the great people at the firm.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at William Blair (New York, NY) in Feb 2026
Interview
30 minute interview session set up through email. Was expecting 1/2 behavioral and 1/2 technical but ended up being completely behavioral. Had the classic TMAY, why William Blair, why Investment Banking, and why [industry group]. Also asked other basic behavioral questions about times you led a group and more.
