It was very straightforward and welcoming! The recruiter was very friendly and was knowledgeable about not only the job, but the technologies involved. I wish all interviews had this laid back, yet professional feeling.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wilbur Labs in Aug 2022
Interview
I never thought I'd leave a positive review about an interview process where I didn't end up with the job, but here we are. From the first message, this experience was different. The interest shown, the attentive communication, the speed of the process itself, and the overall friendliness of everyone I spoke to (in 6 rounds!) is not something I've ever encountered. It was a great experience and while disappointing to not receive an offer, I enjoyed every moment of the experience (except the rejection I suppose). Keep doing what you're doing in the interview process. As I mentioned during the process, other hiring teams should be taking notes from you.
I applied online. I interviewed at Wilbur Labs in Mar 2022
Interview
I applied via their website and was quickly contacted by their in house recruiter, who was enthusiastic and proactive. I had a screener with him that felt much more like an executive interview than I expected for a non-executive role, walking through goals and KPIs of each of my previous roles at all employers in the past decade.
He clearly described the next steps of the process, which included meeting with approximately 5 or 6 more people. A red flag to me was that none of the people he mentioned were women: all men in positions of leadership ranging from the two cofounders to Chief People Officer to heads of portfolio companies in the Lab.
We both left the interview feeling good and looking to schedule a follow up. I did not hear anything back for 2 weeks and then got a polite, but form, rejection email.
We did not discuss compensation ranges in the screener, which is another red flag. He mentioned that conversation would happen on Step 3 of the process: meeting with the Chief People Officer AFTER meeting with the hiring manager (in this case, the founder).
