I interviewed at Wells Fargo Asset Management (Troy, MI)
Interview
Fairly structured and straightforward. It began with an initial phone screening with a recruiter to discuss background, interest in the role, and basic qualifications. This was followed by one to two interviews with members of the team and/or a hiring manager, which focused on a mix of behavioral questions, resume walk-through, and role-relevant analytical or technical questions. Overall, the process was professional, organized, and clearly communicated, with reasonable turnaround times between steps.

Interview
Phone Screen, then video. Clunky and non-responsive, I had to initiate everything, and then they ghosted me. I finally, after weeks of follow-up asking for updates, received a templated email with a turn-down.

Question 1
I was unaware that my video interview would be an ambush - not one but two senior leaders in different roles followed a very clinical script using the old and worn-out STAR method of questions. The STAR method is approximately 50 years old, having been introduced in 1974 by Development Dimensions International (DDI). It is rooted in behavioral interviewing techniques that were developed in the 1970s. Haven't we progressed past this?
