      Front End Developer Interview

      Application

I interviewed at WeTransfer (Amsterdam) in Apr 2024

      Interview

After the recruiter screening, I did a behavioral interview. The interviewer was very friendly and asked questions about my most recent experience, most relevant experience, how I have worked together in a team before or reviewed code so far. There was also a question about “a time I broke something” and how I’ve dealt with it, as well as a question about my behaviour during a previous conflict in the team.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at WeTransfer (Amsterdam) in Aug 2018

      Interview

I've been introduced to WeTransfer by a recruiter. The process goes as follows: 1. You write a motivational letter (which is very important to them) and send it across with your CV; 2. You get contacted by a HR for a ~20minutes conversation, discussing your current situation and again your motivation; 3. You are given a practical task, which you can work on using js/ts/react whatever you like. It is not complicated at all, so I will avoid saying what it was. The important part here is that your code must be tested, clean and tested again; 4. In-house interview with a Product Owner and the Technical Lead (FE in my case). There weren't very technical questions like what is a prototype, or how scope and "this" works, but rather more open ended questions to check again your motivation and how you do your daily work. By the end you have a chance to ask your questions. This part took a little bit more than an hour in my case, and it passed pretty fast as it was really interesting. The interviewers were fun and easy going. 5. There was supposed to be some other parts which didn't happen for unclear reasons. Conclusion: It's a nice interviewing process, and it is goes faster after the first 2 phases. I've got the results in the evening, same day, after the in house interview. I didn't get an offer and also no proper feedback/recommendations. Feels like the decision is made by flipping a coin. That being said, adding some transparency would totally improve the process.
