      Interview

      The interview process was very well-structured and provided a thorough understanding of the company’s culture and values. It consisted of two stages: the initial interview and a presentation. During the initial interview, I was able to discuss my skills and experiences in detail, and I appreciated the insightful questions that allowed me to understand the company’s expectations and work environment better. The second stage involved a presentation that allowed me to share my own understanding of local marketing. Throughout the entire process, both Peter and Mike were exceptionally helpful and approachable. They took the time to explain each step clearly and were always available to answer any questions I had. Their support and transparency played a significant role in my decision to join the team.

      Interview

      It was 2 stages. A phone call and then an in person interview at the main office in Watford. The process was all very strange really… I was offered the job and made it very clear in the interview process that I would only be able to move to Watford full time in 4 weeks time, as I needed to find accommodation and view apartments and agree contract with an estate agent. These things take time and Peter the MD was frustrated at this and asked if I could negotiate down to 2 weeks, I reluctantly agreed but let him know this would be difficult. I got offered the job that evening and said yes, Peter proceeded to send the contract to me and the start date on the contract was for 2 days time (that same working week!) He completed ignored our gentleman’s agreement and put a start date that was impossible for me. I replied and said I think you’ve made a mistake with the start date and Peter replied with “you told us you could start asap” and completely gaslit me. The other people that worked at Acuity were very nice and professional, but Peter Cronin is a liar and a bully.

      Dear Anonymous Interview Candidate, We were saddened to learn of your experiences during the We Are Acuity Account Executive interview process. We take complaints like this very seriously. Consequently, we conducted an internal investigation and reviewed all our policies with our external independent HR consultants. Since your complaint was made four years after the event and we do not have your name, we could not recall the specific incident. Our records show that our office was closed in July 2020 due to government COVID restrictions, having shut down in March 2020 and not reopening until September 2020. Thus, we would not have held an in-person interview during that period. Additionally, our email records indicate that we were not recruiting in July 2020, as approximately 50% of our team was on furlough. We would have first brought back furloughed employees if we had needed additional resources. You are correct that our recruitment process begins with an informal screening call to save applicants from traveling unnecessarily. This allows us to assess if there is a mutual fit with our business needs and company culture. Over the past 25 years, we have found this method effective due to the volume of applications we receive. If the initial screening is successful, we proceed with a two-stage interview process. The first interview allows us to learn more about the candidate and for the candidate to learn about We Are Acuity. We discuss remuneration and notice periods at this stage. It would be very unusual for us to offer a job after just the first interview. If the first interview indicates a good fit, we ask candidates to complete a simple written task and then present it at a second interview. Only after successfully completing this task would we extend a job offer, which is done via a written offer email detailing salary and start date. The contract is issued after the job offer is formally accepted. Our HR records show no contracts issued in July 2020 or within a few months of that period, suggesting the date might be incorrect. We have reached the limits of our investigation without further contact from you. We are deeply saddened by your complaint and have never encountered a situation like this in our 25 years of history. It seems there may have been some misunderstanding, as we strive to start every employment relationship on the best possible footing. We would like to understand more about what you feel went wrong.
