I applied in-person. I interviewed at Waterstone's (Manchester, England) in Oct 2024
Interview
It was a pretty standard interviewer, the hiring manager and general manager were there and they were both lovely.
Unfortunatwly didn't get an offer but would love to still try again
It didn't feel like an interview, it felt more like having a conversation with someone and talking a bit about books. They will ask mostly behavioral questions and customer focused questions

Interview
I had a negative experience with the staff at Waterstone's. They asked me rapid-fire questions and seemed to take issue with the fact that I am an immigrant. They were quite rude throughout the interaction. The final straw was when they asked me three questions at once, not allowing me to finish my responses. However, I am relieved that I did not receive an offer, as I do not wish to work with people like that.

Interview
Very smooth interview, had an hour or so long conversation with a very lovely person who was genuinely interested in my love for books and the publishing industry. I felt completely at ease and able to respond to all questions asked. Of course, some of the questions were directly related to the job, but a bit of preparation beforehand was enough for me to answer them satisfactorily.
