      Management Trainee Interview

      6 Jan 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Walgreens in Oct 2010

      Interview

Submitted my resume through a recruiter during a job fair at my university. I received a call a few days later to set up a 1:1 interview with a manager. I arrived a few minutes late to the interview because of some unexpected road construction around the store I was interviewing at (I still called to let them know, even though I was only about 5 minutes late). When I arrived, the clerk alerted the manager and he came out to meet me. He took me into the back room and informed me that I had to take a skills assessment first and foremost before he could conduct the interview. He set me up on a computer in the photo lab and I finished the skill assessment 30 minutes later. The manager then led me back into the back room to conduct the interview. I can't remember many of the questions, but many of them were behavioral and situational based. As I answered his questions, I couldn't help but notice that he was pretty apathetic and didn't seem very interested in conducting the interview. Once finished, the manager informed me that, if offered a position, I was not going to be starting out as a management trainee because he found that most of the college graduates were completely unprepared to fulfill the position. Instead, I would have to start from the very bottom as a cashier and work my way up into management. He then gave me his card and said he'd be in touch. After going through the most awkward interview of my life, I was incredibly angry. I felt like they had wasted my time and were completely dishonest with me. It was probably one of the most rude, unprofessional interviews I'd ever experienced. I was happy when I didn't receive a call back.

      Question 1

Mostly behavioral and situational based questions. Definitely have some past experiences you can draw from to make answering these questions much easier (whether it be from job or school organization experience).

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Walgreens (New York, NY) in Mar 2018

      Interview

Very casual and experience in retail is a plus. The daily tasks are pretty simple and could be considered an entry level job. The HR recruiter also asked about what I would do in hypothetical scenarios with customers.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Walgreens (Riverside, CA) in Nov 2016

      Interview

My interview was done at one of the Walgreens stores within the area. I was interviewed by two store managers. All the questions were on a sheet of paper and they were all star (situation, task, action, result method questions. I think I answered maybe 5-7 questions talking about customer service experience and making leadership decisions. The interview was average not too difficult. I would say it is important to come up with the best answer you can at the moment and be confident.
