Interview
About a month after I applied for the position, I got an email from the hiring manager asking me to come in for a face to face interview. It was a lot of work just to prepare for the interview: a PPT presentation about how one would secure funding for one of their existing projects; a written evaluation of one of their program proposal prepared by an intern, and close to 2 hours of panel interview where 3 people take turns asking questions.
The hiring panel was very polite and professional, and the conversations were pleasant.
It was a LOT to ask from a candidate before actually working for them, but I enjoyed it.
Before I left the interview, the hiring manager told me that he was going to make a decision next week, but when I followed up close to the end of the next week, he told me he was still interviewing other candidates. I was impressed that he replied very quickly. Unlike many other companies, this hiring manager actually sent me an email after he made a decision to move forward with someone else.
While I did not get an offer, this was one of my better interviewing process experiences.
