      Supermarket Assistant Interview

      22 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Finchley, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Waitrose (Finchley, England) in Jul 2016

      Interview

I had my interview about a month ago on the 28th of July. I arrived about 45 minutes earlier than the interview time and I was taken to the staff room to just wait there until the interview started. I met the other interviewees and spoke to a few of them. When it was time, the Waitrose recruiter asked us all for our passports and we were led into a room. From there all of us were separated into two groups to have our group assessments. Since was my first ever interview, I was quite shy which probably had a negative impact on my interview. It is important that you speak up in the group assessment, I tried to speak up but I didn't really get the task so make sure you take time to read the task brief. Make sure you are not too dominant but not too shy either - don't be shy to voice your opinion even if others don't agree. After the group assessment, we were individually called for one-to-one assessments. I had a very nice lady and she could tell I was very nervous as this was my first interview, some questions I literally froze on so I would advise people who are going in for interviews to read over the interview questions and practice them with someone at home. After the one to one, I had a gut feeling that I wouldn't get this job and I didn't. But it taught me for future references to be more confident and much more prepared. I'll list the questions I can remember below.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Waitrose (London, England) in May 2026

      Interview

I applied for a Supermarket Assistant vacancy for all SW London stores (If your applying for a London specific vacancy, please ensure you apply ASAP, they only keep the vacancies for London open for 24 hours max), an early application, is always the best application) I am very happy that I have been given an offer! This was honestly one of the best interview/application processes I've been through, everything went smoothly, and on a timely manner. I applied for the role a week ago, and the next day received an email to say I have been invited for an Interview. You then schedule yourself in for an Interview. Literally 2 days after the Interview, I was called and told I have passed the Interview, and they would offer me a vacancy. My best advice would be to research Waitrose' core values and behaviours, and also research company trends. I have put the questions below. Towards the end of the interview, they'll confirm your right to work, your availability, and your preferred locations.

      Interview

Good process, nice People and not too difficult. Able to pass interviews as many times as needed. The same as other supermarket jobs, not much more to say to be honest
