      Graduate Engineer Trainee Interview

      22 Sept 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Thrissur
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at WABCO (Thrissur)

      Interview

It was a campus recruitment process. The process spanned across 4 days even though it was scheduled to be finished in 2 days. Around 150 students applied from my college and only 60 were shortlisted based on Resume, CGPA and academic performances. The interview process was done virtually through Google Meet due to the pandemic. The process started of with a Pre-Placement Talk where the HR briefed us about the company. Then the first round was the Group-Discussion in which the candidates were divided into Groups of 10 each. It was a 15 minute GD on current topics like downfall of Indian economy and National Educational Policy. After the GD, 28 were shortlisted for the aptitude and technical test round. Aptitude test was relatively easy and comprised mainly qualitative questions rather than quantitative. Technical questions were based on the student's current field of study(for eg: if the candidate is pursuing a mechanical engineering degree, it should be chosen before the test). After the online test, 17 were shortlisted for the technical interview. Technical panel had two interviewers and it was a pretty tough round to crack as they asked pretty much all the things that was mentioned by the candidate in the resume in depth. I was made to explain my projects, about the software as well as hardware implementations and tested my concepts on the corresponding subjects. Only 6 cleared the technical interview round. Candidates who cleared the technical round had to take up a Personality Assessment Test which had 100 questions. The final round was the HR interview and it was a telephonic interview where the HR asked the typical questions to find whether I am really interested to join the company. The one thing he stressed was why I didn't want to pursue a Post Graduation. So you must be clear in stating a good reason why you want to take up the job right after graduation. Finally, 4 were given the the offer.
