      Interview

I recently had the opportunity to interview with Viral Nation, and I am compelled to share my experience, which was nothing short of disappointing and disheartening. Not only did they fail to provide any feedback on the assignment given during the interview process, but their conduct also exhibited a disturbing sense of racial discrimination. From the outset, the interview process appeared promising, with initial interactions being conducted professionally. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse when it came to the assessment phase. I was assigned an assignment to showcase my skills and knowledge relevant to the position. Despite submitting it within the stipulated deadline, I never received any feedback or acknowledgement from the company. The lack of feedback was deeply unprofessional and left me with a feeling of uncertainty and frustration. Constructive feedback is not only a valuable learning opportunity for candidates, but it also demonstrates the company's commitment to transparency and fairness. By neglecting to provide any feedback, Viral Nation displayed a lack of respect for the efforts I put into the assignment and the time I invested in their interview process. Moreover, what made the experience even more disconcerting was the clear sense of racial discrimination that I perceived. As an individual of a certain racial background, it became evident to me through certain interactions and the overall treatment I received during the process. These incidents left me feeling marginalized and excluded, which is completely unacceptable in any professional setting. Every candidate deserves to be evaluated fairly and without bias. Discrimination based on race or any other characteristic undermines the principles of equality and equal opportunity. It is disheartening to see that, an organization that should champion diversity and inclusivity, failed to meet these basic standards. I sincerely hope that Company takes this review as an opportunity for self-reflection and introspection. Addressing these issues is crucial not only for the well-being of their candidates but also for the company's reputation and long-term success. It is imperative that they foster an environment that respects diversity, promotes equal treatment, and upholds the values of professionalism and transparency. As a prospective candidate, I would caution others who may be considering Viral Nation as their potential employer. Based on my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend engaging with a company that demonstrates such unprofessionalism and apparent racial discrimination. It is essential for candidates to feel valued, supported, and fairly assessed throughout the interview process, and sadly, this was not my experience.

      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Viral Nation (Toronto, ON) in May 2023

      Interview

Interview process way too long and we were only given 3 days to complete the very large technical assessment (when it should've been 5 days in my opinion). The overall atmosphere at the office was not inviting at all and the Engineering Manager was very intrusive with his questions in the final interview. I felt like I was being interrogated to answer certain questions when I was told the final interview was more of a conversational one (not technical). Overall, not a good experience at all, avoid this company.
