Interviewed for a Director role at Vertex Boston. Easily one of the worst senior-level interview experiences I’ve had.
The VP hiring manager showed up 9 minutes late to a 30 minute interview and didn’t acknowledge it. The rest of the conversation felt just as careless. Shallow, generic questions with zero effort to engage on leadership, strategy, or actual substance.
No curiosity, no follow up, no attempt to understand experience. It felt like a box-checking exercise rather than a serious evaluation for a Director role.
The interview ended without any time for questions or insight into the team or role. Completely one sided and low effort.
If this is how senior leadership operates, it raises serious concerns about the culture behind the brand. I mean who cares? Does HR even bother to do their job of keeping track of how these VPs are wasting candidate's time? Isn't HE enough of a function to waste time?
Vertex may look strong from the outside, but this experience suggested something very different.
