Red Flag #1: After my final interview, the contacted one of my former managers to ask about me, without ever actually asking for references. Highly unprofessional.
Red Flag #2: There was no element of HR involved in the interview process, which I found very odd for a company of this size. Everything was conducted through the hiring manager.
Interview process was: (1) a call with a recruiter. (2) a call with the hiring manager. (3) I was asked to pull together a presentation about how I would improve their website. I normally won't agree to assignments like this, but this would have been a substantial pay increase for me, so I did it. This was presented to the hiring manager and the CMO.
I was told they were down to 3 finalists, and that I would hear back the next week. I heard nothing back, figured I hadn't gotten the job, but then heard a few days later from a former manager that they had called about me (again, without asking for references). Finally told me I wasn't getting an offer after I 'checked in' multiple times. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, and after reading the other interview accounts on here, I'm glad I didn't get the job.
