Interview
The Varsity Tutors interview process is typically two steps: 1. **Video interview:** This interview is conducted through a platform called Hireview. You will be asked to record yourself answering four questions, as well as record a 10-minute mini-lesson on a topic of your choice. You have two chances to record each answer, and you have 10 minutes to prepare for the mini-lesson. 2. **Live interview:** If you are successful in the video interview, you will be invited to a live interview with a Varsity Tutors team member. This interview will last about 30 minutes, and you will be asked questions about your teaching experience, qualifications, and why you are interested in working for Varsity Tutors. In addition to the interviews, you will also need to complete a background check and submit proof of your credentials. Here are some tips for preparing for the Varsity Tutors interview process: * **Practice answering common interview questions.** There are many resources available online and in libraries that can help you prepare for common interview questions. Be sure to practice answering questions about your teaching experience, qualifications, and why you are interested in working for Varsity Tutors. * **Prepare a lesson plan for your mini-lesson.** Your mini-lesson should be engaging and informative, and it should demonstrate your teaching skills. Be sure to practice your lesson plan before the interview so that you can deliver it smoothly and confidently. * **Dress professionally for your live interview.** Even though the interview is being conducted remotely, it is important to dress professionally to show that you are taking the interview seriously. * **Be prepared to discuss your teaching philosophy.** Varsity Tutors is looking for tutors who are passionate about teaching and who have a clear teaching philosophy. Be prepared to discuss your teaching philosophy in the interview and explain how it would inform your work as a Varsity Tutors tutor.
You are sent a link to an online video interview. They ask you about previous tutoring experience and the last question was asking you to do a mock-tutoring session. It's very awkward because you have to make up what you want to teach on the spot, but you get unlimited time to think of responses.
