I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (New York, NY) in Feb 2018
Interview
READ THIS WHOLE REVIEW CAUSE SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS PLACE:
Fill out the application online, then you are to do an online interview with prerecorded questions. Was a bit annoying not working in Firefox, so had to use another browser. The questions were generic tutoring questions like how would you help a student understand a concept, what is your tutoring style etc.
But this is the problem. Its now been 3-4 weeks. 3-4 WEEKS since I heard a reply. I was offered a contract 2 weeks ago on the website saying I made it through, but having trouble getting opportunities even though I filled out what I was told to for my profile. My wage was missing, I decided to call up 2 days ago since email support seems to not speak english well. The guy I got sounded very unprofessional, but basically he told me that I did not make it through, that I'm only at the video stage and that I need to wait for a call, even though my contract says at the top that I made it through and got accepted, and the contract I already SIGNED. WTF. He told me call back if I don't get a call in a few days. Really? Worst experience I've had applying for a job yet. I finally got an email yesterday saying they are experiencing a high volume of applicants. Simple solution, stop accepting new ones, you know, have a QUOTA? 3-4 weeks is unacceptable and then sending the wrong information sent to the applicant? This has also happened to a friend of mine applying.
How may you respond if a student says "What is the point in learning this, we don't need it in real life". Maybe show an example of how that's not correct
You are sent a link to an online video interview. They ask you about previous tutoring experience and the last question was asking you to do a mock-tutoring session. It's very awkward because you have to make up what you want to teach on the spot, but you get unlimited time to think of responses.

Interview
AI Interview, very easy. Asked very basic question's regarding experience, motivation, etc. I’m a freshman student in UMD and so I haven’t been to many job interviews, but this was genuinely easy.
