I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Vardags (London, England) in Oct 2024
Interview
Started off with a recruiter call, just to confirm backgrounds and go over details about the role. Then moved to a Microsoft Teams interview with Data Manager and lastly an in person interview with Head of IT, Data Manager and Head of Digital Transformation. Overall, was a great interview process, only drawback is the lack of feedback on how I could have been more successful,
Recruiter Call:
- What do you know about the company and the role?
Microsoft Teams Interview
- Describe your proficiency with SQL or how long do you think it would take you to learn it?
- This role involves talking to a lot of stakeholders, is this something you have experience with/are comfortable with?
- Why did you choose your degree disciplines?
Final Round, In-Person Interview
- What do you know about Vardags? Why Vardags?
- What is a challenge you faced in your most recent position? How did you overcome it?
- How did you deal with your previous position not having an onboarding process?
- What is your awareness with GDPR?
- How would you teach business communication skills to a computer science graduate?
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Vardags (London, England) in Nov 2023
Interview
Interviewed with outgoing person and a random IT consultant, who was a friend of the CEO. Consultant did most of the work, and asked series of ultra technical or unusual scenario questions (e.g. differences between db column encryption and disk encryption, or how do you ensure that the £1m deal phone call reaches the CEO). Gave me a worrying glimpse into how they operate, and I withdrew immediately.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you ensure that the £1m deal phone call reaches the CEO?
The interview panel did not know clearly about the interview length. It was a 45 min interview but one of them assumed it was a one hour interview. The interview had to stop because one panel member had a meeting after it.
They don't really have any prepared questions. All questions were asked in a very free way. They asked 3 weaknesses of you, which I think is a very dull/destructive question.
