      Interview

I was interviewed on Zoom by 2 people, one woman was a manager for the position I had applied for the other was a man from HR. The woman was nice and asked reasonable questions, but the man came across as being rude and consdascending, which made me feel nervous and uncomfortable and really affected my confidence and made it hard for me to continue with the interview.

      18 Dec 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Vancouver, BC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Vancity (Vancouver, BC) in Dec 2018

      Interview

Basically they asked questions that were not well thought out to get the information they were looking for, and they did not follow up and made many incorrect assumptions. There were 2 of them interviewing me, and 1 was slouched in his chair, his demeanor reminding me of someone casually eating Teddy Grahams or tired from a day of Lancing. Anyway, he was moving around a lot, seemingly not listening, which I found out was normal of them, but when given feedback, it was clear he did not hear me at all, he heard what he decided in his mind and made that view fit for the other interviewer as well. He loved the sound of his own voice, and clearly is not interested in anyone else's view. They are gatekeepers, so they are searching for reasons not to hire you, instead of if you fit well to the role and team, and frequently forget your resume and qualifications. I am going to the competition, there seems to be too much Favoritism and blatant Nepotism in the company as a whole, and Merit does not get you anywhere, hence the high turnover at all levels. My advice, unless you want to be fake and play politics at all times for your entire career here, stay clear and try to find the genuine companies, because honey, the Incompetence is getting harder to hide in this financial Institution. What was worse, they were not even going to be my team or supervisors, so connecting with the people you wlil work with is a Huge gamble. Blessing is disguise, good riddance, on to bigger and better, and I can see where all the rumors are coming from now...OH! and the words "Robust" were used frequently, it is an interview not a coffee, this is not about entertainment like on some America's Got Talent for you to judge, but I guess class and professionalism are too much to expect from "Managers" that are clearly too young and inexperienced themselves to be capable of anything better.
