I happened to see an article online about VIPkid and that they needed qualified teachers. I have 17 years experience with special needs, nonverbal autistic students and elementary education. I have my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and am working on my Masters in Special Education. I thought it wouldn't hurt to try! I had my first interview which lasted about fifteen minutes. They asked basic questions about my experience and education. I also had to do a sample lesson. This was fairly easy as I have done similar lessons before. I received an email about half an hour later saying I did well and what the next steps were. I did do the trainings they emailed me along with watching several videos. I scheduled my Mock 1 interview for four days later. I practiced and raided my daughter's toy box for appropriate props. My Mock 1 class lasted exactly one hour. I kept a smile on my face and kept a high level of energy and enthusiasm. It went very well and the email I received later that evening said I didn't even have to do Mock 2!!! Working on completing my profile and I'll hopefully start teaching classes within a week!
