I applied online. I interviewed at VCA in Jul 2017
Interview
Applied online and received a call to come in for an interview about a week later. Waited about 45 minutes to be interviewed as there were many other candidates. Face-to-face interview was very easy with general questions and took about 10 minutes. Was told to come back the following day for a working interview that lasted 2 hours and mainly just shadowed the employees . Was told the office manager would call me but they never did.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at VCA
Interview
My initial interview with VCA went well and left me feeling optimistic about the opportunity. However, what followed was an incredibly frustrating and disheartening experience. I was told I'd hear back the following Wednesday. That day came and went — no call. Then it was Friday. Then the next Wednesday. Then another week. This continued for nearly a month.
I followed up regularly, every time being reassured that the hiring process was still ongoing. I was even told I “hadn’t been denied yet,” giving me false hope that I was still being seriously considered. Week after week, I was promised a call that never came. It got to the point where it felt like I was being strung along for no reason. “Admin week” was constantly cited as a reason for delay, every single week.
Finally, when I called again during the week they once again promised to follow up, I was told via the receptionist that "an email was sent". That so-called "email" turned out to be nothing more than an automated Workday application update stating that I was not selected that I received at 12:55 AM. No formal rejection, no closure, just weeks of vague, inconsistent communication and unfulfilled promises.
This kind of disorganized and frankly disrespectful hiring process makes me seriously question the internal stability and professionalism of the company. If you can’t uphold basic communication and transparency during the interview phase, what does that say about the organization itself?
If you're not going to hire someone, just say so don’t waste their time and energy with empty reassurances.
I didn’t even want to write this review because the managers genuinely seemed so sweet and optimistic, but I needed to vent and get this off my chest. I’m just so disappointed. Even if writing this affects my chances with any future openings, I felt it was important to speak honestly about my experience.

Question 1
How would someone describe you if we asked them to?
The interview process was simple. Recipe Ed a call after I put in my application. Set up a time for the interview and went in for it. Got to meet most of the staff.
Formal but not stressful. Was a long time to get hired because it had to go through approval from hospital manager and shes a busy lady. That was frustrating. Average interview.
