Screening, Tech Interview with coding, Tech task, Manager Interview, Offer. Seems easy enough, but it's more complex in reality. Managerial interview make me feel bad but I still accepted offer due to the growing unemployement in my field aftre mass layoffs
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tree traversal question and simple queue management
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Upside (Austin, TX) in Oct 2025
Interview
Recruiter screen then technical programming interview, then resume overview with manager. Recruiter technical was a simple overview of their company with a bit about my programming experience. Technical interview was your standard coding interview with what I would call Leetcode Easy or Medium question.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Write code to calculate time differences given date strings. Use Python. Question was on a shared coding site with a senior software engineer on a video call who could answer clarifying questions about the problem. Then, we had some time for me to ask questions to him about Upside’s dev culture.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Upside in Nov 2022
Interview
They gave me a verbal offer and then rescinded the offer after two weeks of waiting for a written offer. Pretty unprofessional. I did atleast 6+ hours of interviews spread out over a couple weeks.
