I was approached by a recruiter to speak with UpKeep. I interviewed with the CEO and knew immediately that the Marketing role would be difficult under this CEO. He is very hands-on in the business and will likely micromanage the function. Given my experience, I knew it was just not a cultural fit. Plus, who wants to drive in to the most crowded part of LA (Westwood) to work in an office everyday?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at UpKeep Maintenance Management (San Jose, CA) in Nov 2022
Interview
I was interviewed by company recruiter who was very pleasant and professional. I was contacted the next day to schedule interview with CEO. What was odd is that the process was to interview twice with the CEO, then with a Board Member and then with another executive or two. After that, I'd be asked to prepare a marketing plan and fly to their office in southern California to present it. I was not willing to provide them with a marketing plan for free and dedicate that kind of time for a position that was not C-Level or VP level. I let the recruiter know I was not interested in moving forward due to these requirements.
