Simple, like any other phd position. apply and get in, not terribly competitive

I already knew my potential advisor through internships I took up in my sophomore and junior undergrad. Applied online and specifically requested to be admitted into her research group in my SOP. Following that, I had 2-hour skype call. A few weeks later, I received a letter in mail about my admission to the graduate program and financial aid package. I was latter flown for a visit.
