The process was long, but relatively painless. I completed a 30 minute HR phone screening, an hour-long technical phone screening, and then a six-hour onsite interview. The onsite interview was broken into five pieces: four technical interviews (each with a different engineer) and an HR interview. The vast majority of the interviews consisted of coding questions and exercises, but Universal did an excellent job making this process as comfortable as possible. I was only asked to go to the whiteboard for simple exercises, and was instead given a laptop for more involved coding problems. The technical interviews were also conducted one-on-one, making them far less nerve-racking than they easily could have been.
