      Declined offer
      No offer
      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Uline (Waukegan, IL) in Sept 2015

      Interview

After resume submittal, I received a call to come in an interview. No phone screen prior to a face to face. Prior to my interview I was sent an email requesting me to take several assessments: writing, personality, etc. I did those, submitted them. When I arrived, I was briefly greeted and sat down to take a couple additional assessment, very brief, asked to recognize number sequences, etc. Then taken to an interview room. Interviewer was nice, interview lasted maybe 25 min. She asked the typical questions. She asked my salary level at the very end, this was the first time I had been asked salary. I could tell by her expression it wasn't a fit for their opening. My suggestion to Uline is do a phone screen. Know the candidate a little better before you bring them in. Doesn't make any sense to bring someone in who is outside your salary bounds or doesn't meet your criteria, etc. Took nearly two weeks to get a response, no follow up. I had to reach out and ask the status.

      Question 1

Can't remember a specifically what was asked, it was nothing out of the ordinary. The questions were very much what you would expect: tell me about your experience, why are you interested in this role, etc.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Uline (Pleasant Prairie, WI)

      Interview

Uline is the equivalent of applying to Severance's Lumen. I applied online and had a phone screening. I was then invited to interview in-person in a silent, cold, empty office in downtown Milwaukee. When I walked in, the front desk person ignored me until I asked if I was in the right place. She had me take an aptitude test that included recognizing number patterns. You had to get through as many as possible within the timeframe provided - I think it was around 5 minutes. Once all the tests concluded, I was invited to meet with the interviewer in another room. They offered me water, asked standard work history questions, and told me about Uline's culture. They described to me a culture of suppression. At the time, women were required to wear skirts and had to wear tights underneath during the winter months. I said I work well in teams, but they said there would be limited collaboration, and the offices were expected to be quiet. Prior to the interview, I had done some research on the company and looked into the leadership team to see how things were run. I was surprised to find the CEO releases newsletters that are, to put it lightly, deranged. According to a friend who worked there for a couple of years, employees were allegedly allowed one personal item on their desk that had to be put away at the end of the workday. Anyway, it wasn't for me and I declined the position.
