      Civil Engineer Corps Officer Interview

      9 Dec 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer

      Application

      I interviewed at US Navy

      Interview

Interview process setup by recruiter and easy to perform. Interview itself was as expected, nothing too out of the ordinary. Mostly based on decision to serve, wishes once in service, and ability to handle change and deployments overseas.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 9 months. I interviewed at US Navy

      Interview

After voicing interest to local recruiter, we did lots of paperwork and then he set up the interview with regional CEC Accessions Officer. Interview occurred at recruiter office about 3-5 weeks later. Interviewer was a little stand-off-ish and harsh, but looking back, I believe he was testing to see how uncomfortable he could make me. Interview lasted about 20 min. He mentioned to recruiter before he left that I was one of the most qualified candidates he had seen in a while so, I kind of suspected I was going to hear back soon. Within a few weeks I was signing official paperwork. Somewhere in the process I remember doing a swim test and comprehensive physical. I did the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program (BDCP) program, so I finished out school before going to Officer Candidate School (OCS).

      Question 1

Weren't any questions one wouldn't expect. I was only a college student at the time. I was studying Chemical Engineering so, he was looking for some cross-over knowledge/traits for Civil Engineering as well as some leadership experience. I was involved in a lot of organizations where I held offices and was involved in Habitat for Humanity. He seemed to be really satisfied with both of those.
