I applied through a recruiter. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at US Navy (Atlanta, GA) in Feb 2013
Interview
The recruiter told me all about the Navy. He then asked what I wanted to do and helped me look at the different positions available to me being colorblind. I then chose Seabee among the options. After doing all the paperwork, he took me to the military entrance processing station. I was then told that that position was unavailable. He had "the old recruiting manual". I was then coerced into another position to meet their quota.
It was simple but detailed! Physical, mental, legal background checked and cleared! Once that’s done get ready for boot camp. The advance is kind of like the meal test in high school, just a mirror of what you do and don’t know, also what you can and can’t do going forward.
