I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (San Antonio, TX) in Apr 2012
Interview
There's no interviewing, you just go to the recruiter with no prior knowledge of what to expect. Best bet is to pick anything other than Fire/Rescue, Emergency Medical, Security Forces, and anything that makes you go on the flight line for any reason.
Other Security Forces interview reviews for US Air Force
no real interview required other than a background check investigation and a talk about your past experiences, school grades, criminal history, etc with a recruiter at a local recruitment station

Interview
Long medical review and a lot of paperwork. There are various positions for growth within the career field that have various interview and application processes as well. You will have to go to MEPS (Medical Entrance Processing Station) once to a few times based on your medical history. You will do an in-depth medical review, you will answer questions with your recruiter and then go to basic training.
