The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at UPMC in Dec 2009
Interview
I was called by HR to set up an appointment to do a phone interview. Phone interview went fairly smoothly--the standard behavioral/interest questions. I was asked by my interviewer (who was also the hiring manager) to send some writing samples. Then at the end of the interview, I was asked for a 2nd in-person interview so that my interviewer could meet me in person. Weeks went by with no word from HR or my interviewer. This also wasn't the first time I'd interviewed with this department and this manager so I thought we were all on the same page here because UPMC was the one to approach me about this position and not the other way around. Anyway still no word weeks later even after I reach out to my interviewer. The buck gets passed off to the HR guy who had called me to set up the first phone interview. In his email, he tells me about supposedly leaving me a message the previous week (I never got it, checked email and phone multiple times) about how they had chosen an internal candidate instead. Okay thanks for letting me know weeks after the fact. I get why they would go with an internal applicant but still pretty unprofessional treatment by trying to avoid me. Similar situation when I had interviewed with this department months before. Overall, I'm not pleased with how they choose to handle (or not handle) "touchy" situations. Just let me know and get on with it, don't leave a person hanging!

The interview at Childrens went great. However, I did not hear anything about the job (and I was one of 2 individuals being considered) until very long time after the interview.

All questions were text book questions from all of the interview material online everywhere. Questions that do not even matter to the position.
