I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at UC San Diego (La Jolla, CA) in Jan 2013
Interview
Like every other postdoc position, its entirely up to the individual PI and theres no involvement from the university. So what is there to say? Give a talk, see if you mesh with the lab, figure out projects and money. UCSD admin weren't really involved.

I applied through other source. I interviewed at UC San Diego
Interview
Contacted a relevant prof, was asked for 1 to 1 interview initially and then a talk to his group. They were doing interesting things, and were curious about my work too. Overall, a great learning experience and motivation.

Question 1
It was mostly technical aboit my research on semiconductor materials and devices
In summary hectic! I had to sponsor myself to one of the interview location and met twice virtually afterwards. This might not represent the general view, but there appear to be a bias in the employment process. People from high-ranked schools might have greater chances of being favored.
