I applied online, and was sent an email from the HM for a Zoom interview, haven't heard back from him since. I assume the next step would have been an in-person interview. This was such a weird interview experience. The hiring manager reached out to me over a month after I had applied for the role. Even though the interview felt laid back, and the HM told me that he considered me one of his "top 10 candidates" and would "get back to me," I haven't heard anything since my interview with him over 2 months ago. I assume that the HM either found someone else for the role or he isn't in that much of a hurry to fill the position. Either way, it's a prime example of why folks flock to tech jobs over roles in higher education: the interview process is entirely too slow, the level of customer service in the hiring process is subpar, and there is no real sense of empathy of care for the candidate.
