      Senior Frontend Developer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Travelport in Mar 2024

      Interview

Applied for the role and heard back relatively quickly that they wanted to have a chat. In the email outlining my availability, there was some questions such as why I applied for the role etc which I answered in my response. A video screening call was quickly set up, but this was just a very frustrating experience. The person responsible for screening wanted to fill out a cover sheet for the hiring manager outlining my skills, experience and reasoning for applying to Travelport despite the fact I had sent a CV, cover letter and had answered questions in the email when detailing my availability AND had already been selected for a screening. During this call, they shared their screen and went through the job description line by line and asked me to detail any experience related to each and every line. I was constantly interrupted when trying to answer with my experiences and skills as the interviewer wanted to write down information and fill out their cover sheet on screen - I was barely able to speak at length before being interrupted. As well, I had to sit and watch them type and make mistakes leaving an awkward silence while they filled out the sheet. The cover sheet that was finally sent over was not ideal - it was basically their interpretations of what I was saying. There were mistakes made, however I had already corrected them multiple times and just kind of gave up towards the end. There were a few silly things, such as when they kept asking about Java and have I worked with it before - in a front end role. I eventually had to correct them that it was probably Javascript they meant. I finished up the call after 30 minutes and was actually drained from it. The process was very poor, and a very bad indication of Travelport as a company if that was the first point of contact. Needless to say, I did not receive a call back and I'm glad I didn't. You should not be selecting candidates for interviews if you are just going to waste their time and ask repeated questions, and also interrupt them when they are speaking. This was by far one of the worst screening calls I've ever had.
