I got a call from a HR recruiter requesting a time to set up a screen. The screen was pretty basic. The girl asked for my experience, if I had my CT Adj license, how do I handle multiple claims at the same time, how well do I handle stress and if I am deadline conscious, how do I handle complaints and stakeholders. The HR recruiter then said that they would set up a 1:1 with the hiring manager. About a week or so later I got a call from an unknown who set up my 1:1 interview with the hiring manager. I took the day off to attend this interview. I got to the building 1/2hr early as I was not familiar with the city. I checked into their HR office and waited. The manager was late and we went into a room where he began to ask me 2 questions. I noticed he was not paying attention to my answers nor did he have anything to write with to record anything! I got the impression this was a failed interview for whatever reason right from the start. He basically explained the position, said the position is non-exempt, and kept hinting that he wanted someone that had prior engineering background and/or boiler background. Had 0 attention span when I talked. I didn't ask any questions at the end as he looked like he had something better to do. He said that he would call me back in one week either way. Well that week came and went. After 3 weeks of hearing nothing I called the recruiter a few times to no avail. Even though I knew the interview was a waste of time and that the manager probably hired someone by now, I still feel a company should get back to you EITHER WAY, especially when this individual said he would. Its just being professional. I am shocked that Travelers did not have the courtesy to send me a rejection letter/email/phone call. Another company I interviewed for at the same time sent me a rejection letter that same week I interviewed with them. I ended up accepting a position with another company doing Crime/Extortion claims. Ironically Travelers called me recently in regards to some type of CAT Center position. I ignored the call.
