Contacted a recruiter looking for prospects and was placed for an interview with TransUnion. First step was a phone screen followed by a programming exercise, then a panel in-person interview. The phone interview was with the potential manager, and it went well and he seemed like a nice guy. Moved on to a programming exercise which was open-ended enough that each candidate could show their way of doing things and shine. After submitting the code for the coding exercise, they liked it enough to bring me in for in-person. The interview was well done, with a good mix of technical and background questions. The coding exercise was discussed, and I was asked for my reasoning as to why I did things the way I did. I think as long as you have a basis and reasoning behind things, and can explain it eloquently, you'll be fine. The next day I received an offer which was very competitive and in-line with expectations. Declined it due to a better offer from another firm.
