I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (Walnut Creek, CA)
Interview
The Captain and another manager (Mate) takes you outside or somewhere to talk and is fairly laid back. They asked me why I wanted to work for Trader Joe's and what it is that I think of when I think of the company itself. They gave me a few different scenarios and asked what I would do in each. They asked me about myself, as well.

Interview
Basically how the interview process works is that you show up, the Captain or another manager will take you outside or to a private place and they ask you about it your experience and asked why Trader Joe’s. The interview process is a standard interview process: lots of questions about who you are and what you’re looking for.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2019
Interview
I applied at a new store so got an interview right away (they usually do these on the spot if you drop off an application) and was told to bring a portfolio of my work. They asked me some basic questions about myself like why I wanted to work there, my work history, and my favorite TJ's product/if I shop there. They basically ask you a bunch of Q's to see how well you can hold a conversation. Vibe check to see how you'll handle chatting people up at the register so just be yourself and let that personality sparkle. For sign artists- they really see if you've got neat handwriting/lettering skills and ask you to copy a price tag on the spot.
