I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2014
Interview
I was called in for an interview and sat down with the assistant manager. We went over my resume and discussed my employment history. He asked why I wanted to work there and we discussed the Trader Joe's corporate culture. I was told they hire largely based on personality.
I had a call with the hiring manager about a sales associate position. After a few days, I got a follow up to come in for a basic interview that went over my previous sales associate experiences.

Question 1
What kind of previous sales associate experiences do I have?
The interview process was pretty standard for a retail environment. They asked the usual questions you would expect for this type of role and required the usual amount of experience.

Question 1
How will you improve the customer experience at Trader Joes
Was awesome - very friendly and down to earth, seems like a great place to work. Hope I get the job. Some easy questions, about work experience and the like, but also some curveballs. They asked me to give a lot of scenarios where I encountered certain difficulties and $18 an hour is not bad.
