I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Trader Interactive (Virginia Beach, VA) in May 2024
Interview
I applied online through the company’s LinkedIn job post (I liked that they made it easy to submit my resume with the “Easy Apply” button). The recruiter on the same platform messaged me the next business day, asking me to schedule a phone call and providing a calendar tool to select my availability. In the initial phone screen, the recruiter reviewed my background, experience, and interest in the role and provided information about the company and the position.
Next, I was sent a home technical assessment, which included both a backend and a front-end programming question. After I completed it, I received an email confirmation to move forward to an interview with the Hiring Manager, who focused on my leadership style and conflict resolution skills.
From then on, I met with one of the Engineering directors, followed by a peer Engineering Manager. These behavioral interviews focused on my past experiences, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
The final stage was an interview with the CTO, who took time from his PTO to meet me, which was a clear indication of how much the company values its potential employees. We discussed the challenges I would face in the role and how I approached them in the past.
After the interview with the CTO, the recruiter scheduled a quick call to communicate a verbal offer, followed by a short meeting with the Hiring Manager to discuss final expectations and a written offer.
The overall process was:
- Application Submission (LinkedIn)
- Recruiter Phone Screen
- Hiring Manager
- Director Of Engineering
- Engineering Manager
- CTO
- Offer
The interview process took 4 weeks to complete in total (the same time I experienced for the same role in other companies).
