A casual interview with a short simple SQL test.
This was then followed by another more in-depth interview with two members of senior management. Still relaxed but were a lot of technical questions as opposed to competancy.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you keep up to date with new technologies and SQL developments?
I interviewed at Tonik Energy (Birmingham, England)
Interview
AWFUL INTERVIEWER (Phone Interview) - I got declined from this company a while back but I have now got a similar role at a more prestigious company which pays a lot more.
The interviewer wants you to be PERFECT - when she asks you a question, she does not probe, my experience with other interviewers at other companies is that the interviewer asks questions if she/he has any misunderstanding with the answers as they want you to do well in the interview STAGE.
I was overqualified for this role coming out of uni and I have found uni graduate type interviews easier and maybe potentially I was young played a factor. This interviewer ((BIRMINGHAM - TONIK)) who interviewed me needs training and development on how to ask questions and show more empathy.
I would advise only to apply if you are a PERFECT PERSON, funnily I have now got a job at a bigger company than TONIK.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Tonik Energy (Birmingham, England) in May 2018
Interview
I was invited to see the (newly refurbished) offices, and then went for a coffee with the Technology Director - all very relaxed and informal. Unfortunately, I had slightly missed the boat, as an offer had already been made and they were waiting for the candidate to accept - he did accept in the end, but it was great to have the opportunity to meet up - it's definitely a company I would want to work for if another position opened up.
