Overall, I had a positive experience interviewing for the Engineering Manager II role. The recruiter was friendly and professional, and the interview itself was well organized. The first round focused on people management and leadership behaviors, with questions covering topics like managing stakeholders, navigating difficult decisions, resolving team conflicts, and leadership style. The questions were what I would expect for an engineering management interview and gave me a good opportunity to discuss my experience.
The biggest downside was the pace of communication between stages, as responses sometimes took longer than expected. Ultimately, the hiring process was paused due to organizational changes before I could continue to the remaining interview rounds. While it was disappointing not to complete the process, the team was transparent about the reason, and I appreciated being informed. Overall, I'd still consider interviewing with TomTom again if the opportunity arises.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you had to make a difficult leadership decision. How did you approach it, how did you balance the needs of your team and stakeholders, and what was the outcome?
The interview process was standard but took longer than expected. I started with an HR call, followed by a technical interview. There were a few communication mixups, as I was told the round would focus on object-oriented programming, but it was mostly a standard DSA interview. Overall, the interviewers were professional, but the process could have been more clearly communicated.

Initially you are given a Codility test to do onilne. There were 3 coding problems, the first one was sliding window with a hash map, the second one was dynamic programming and the third was backtracking. If you had above 80% you were invited for a interview with the talent acquisition. It lasted 20 minutes and I was asked about my CV and the motivation for applying for the role. Next interview was 30 minutes theoretical questions about algorithms and data structures, oop and design patterns, and operating system architecture. They rejected me after the theoretical interview.
